Bushy Park

Situated just north of Hampton Court Palace, Bushy Park is one of London’s Royal Parks and attracts thousands of visitors every week.  The flat site of the park has been established for more than 4,000 years and there are clear medieval influences in the field systems.  Throughout the Park there are wide open spaces ideal for the kids to run about or even indulge in traditional English sports such as cricket and rounders.  There is a pond for sailing model boats and a great playground that the kids will love.

The Water Gardens provide a tranquil spot for a lazy wander, or even a picnic if you’re feeling peckish.  If you haven’t brought your own food, there’s a café in the Park serving up deli-style catering.  There are five heritage trails to choose from, each of which is self-guided with audio tracks available.  Bushy Park has plenty to offer and is sure to tire the kids out!

Coram’s Field

If you’re looking for an adventure playground for the kids that’ll offer plenty for you as well, try Coram’s Field.  With a zip wire, tunnel slide and tonnes of climbing equipment made out of natural materials, it’ll be hours before you all run out of things to do.  There’s also a giant sandpit and toddler climbing frames to cater for the younger thrill-seekers.

Set over seven acres, the park is open from 9am until dusk and is completely free to anyone who wishes to enter.  There are friendly members of staff on-site to keep an eye on how things are going so you can be sure your children are safe.  On site is also the City Farm which is home to goats, ducks, guinea pigs, rabbits, birds and sheep.  Far cheaper than visiting one of the city’s zoos, it provides a great environment for the kids to see animals.

The park is run as a charity and is funded by donations and fundraising activities throughout the year.
