Vietnam is known for housing some of the most beautiful beaches, wild and desert dunes in the world. However, beyond those beautiful sceneries and blanketed mountains of Vietnam, lies some of the most thrilling natural attractions including Rivers and waterfalls. These waterfalls from the ancient rivers wending their way down the stream are a source of breeze and form the best places to visit in the country. In this brief, you will find some of the best waterfalls in the country
Best South Vietnam ’s Waterfalls
These waterfalls are located in the leafy and forested mountains of Lam Dong Province where Vietnamese emperors and European colonials went for hunting. However, these forested areas of Vietnam’s Central Highlands have no big wild animals due to the prior damages in the forest. In addition, the most beautiful natural resources such as Dalat’s waterfalls survived. The waterfalls in Dalat’s vicinity are extremely popular. The area attracts both local and international tourists. Most of the waterfalls in this area are spectacular but surprisingly, most of them are empty of tourist. Some other places were once tourist attractions but are now empty and completely abandoned.
The reason for this is because most of the tourists prefer those waterfalls which are far from Dalat. In Dalat, there are several waterfalls that I want to cover in this brief.
Bao Dai Waterfall
This waterfall is situated just 50km from Dalat and visiting is free. It is named after Vietnam’s Last Emperor. It is believed that this emperor would stop here on his hunting trips to the region. Although the waterfall is not so popular, the place is spectacular and attractive for dates and those family trips to take a break from the busy city life.
The good thing is that the Vietnam’s Tourist Authority is undertaking some renovation measures to ensure that Rao Dai has fully restored its glory. The modern entrance that is manned and well maintained will lead to the beautiful and the most peaceful landscaped Gardens of Vietnam. This fall is the biggest and the most spectacular of all in the area. As you go up the place you will pass through stone steps and pathways listening to the screaming cicadas. At the base of the waterfall, those people who like fishing would cast their lines for a catch and adventure.
In case you are coming from the town, you can catch up with an old tour bus that usually visits the place. During the week, there are very few people at the spot and hence you may have all the place by you. There’s no entrance fee and the place is secure with no sign of concrete elephants or colossal statues of ethnic minorities embellishing the site.
This waterfall is deep into the forest that surrounds Dalat. It is only 15 km east of the city. Their specific site feels remote but it is easily accessible. This waterfall was developed as a tourist attraction site but the site didn’t attract much tourists during all this time. However, this is one of the best places to go for picnics and other occasions. It has picnic huts, toilets, benches and even a restaurant at its heart. Despite the reality that this waterfall is neglected, there are some officials in the area to collect a fee of $0.5 and at the same time offer the needed support.
Many people who have visited it in the past love the quite nature and the crash of rocks and the diagonal setting over which water slides and flows. Tiger falls as the most peaceful waterfall in the whole of Vietnam.
The fall is surrounded by pine trees and creepers which offer a refreshing and a breathtaking environment for picnics and taking a refreshing time out of the town. Tiger falls was named after a small cave which is believed to have been a den of tigers.
Elephant waterfall is situated at the bottom of a much firmed valley of mountain Pass barely 30km southwest of Dalat. This is a very popular tourist destination in Dalat. There are some few stores and shops around this place and hence you can be sure to get all the services that you need close by. After you are granted access to the area, you will have freedom to tour all the main attractions including the bottom of the fall. However, people are advised to be careful when finding their way down the stone stairs.
There is a blue handrail which is secured into the rock to help guide the visitors along the slippery and treacherous pathways. Although it takes some few minutes to traverse the whole area, the spray from the water falling makes everything slippery and damp. What this means is that only the young and energetic people can easily access the bottom of the fall. Elephant falls is viewed from the bottom, the scale, power and the volume of water that is falling makes it difficult to access the whole place.
Once you get into the Elephant fall, you can get coffee from a little coffee shop at the entrance. You can as well buy a bag of beans in the shops to take home. From Dalat, you can hire your own transport or even find a local bus to Nam Ban Village. If you do, the journey will only take 45 minutes to the site.
This waterfall is 40 meters high and spreads more than 100 meters of 7 rock levels. Visitors from different parts of the world have come here to watch this breathtaking scenery. They place is made beautiful by hundreds of vivid windflowers which cover poetic paths to the isolated waterfall. This stunning scenery has been isolated for so long but tourists are gradually recognizing its beauty and increasingly paying a visit here. The government has also taken measures to improve security and develop pathways to access the scenery.
The waterfall features layers and layers of pouring water which create very beautiful white foams and cool foggy. Most of the people say that waterfalls are the most romantic settings in the world. The best time to visit this place with family and friends is the dry season. This is the time when you will have a clear view of the cleanest water. However, if you like a magnificent sight, you can visit Ponguor waterfall on the rainy season.
Pongour waterfall is located just 50 km from Da Lat City and you can simply access it via a Bus or a Motorbike. This waterfall is much nicer than most of the waterfalls in Dalar but few people recognize it. You can visit it as a couple, family, a work group or just as an individual. The good thing is that there are some shops nearby for refreshments and buying all the other necessities.
Most of international tourists don’t venture to Pongour waterfall due to its long distance and inaccessibility during the rainy season. It is surrounded by a huge unspoiled forest and hence it’s worth the journey. You will only be required to pay $0.5 or 10,000 VND per head to access the premises. Once you are given access, you can watch water fall from all dimensions.
Most companies in Vietnam are willing to customize the trips and offer an easy Rider-type motorbike trip. What this means is that you shouldn’t be worried about accessibility. You only need to contact a tour company and they will organize everything for you, your family or friends.
