When you combine Hilton’s well-known quality, amenities galore, and Sedona’s famous red rocks you get a fantastic place to stay. I’ll say right off the bat that the Hilton Sedona Resort and Spa is hands down the best family-friendly resort we visited in Arizona.
Check-in was a breeze, and with the help of our friendly bellman, Guy, we were situated in our room in no time at all. While helping us with our luggage, Guy also acted as a supplemental concierge telling us about all of the fantastic Sedona sites and what we shouldn’t miss.
Our suite was very well appointed, and we found it quite comfortable. We had all the luxuries that traveling families appreciate: a microwave, mini-fridge, honor bar, cable television (two actually) and a dining table. We also appreciated the gas fireplace, balcony overlooking some of Sedona’s red rocks, and in-room movie selections and video games. We requested a set of dishes and silverware to use with our snacks and meals during our stay, and they were delivered to our room very quickly, making our stay that much more convenient. We made good use of the gas fireplace during the cool evenings. Of course the girls enjoyed use of the in-room movies and video games, taking in our favorite “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” and a few games of Yoshi’s World.
One of my personal favorites of the amenities was the Guest Laundry. Laundry is a pretty big issue for us when we spend months on the road, so I was pleased to know we would have a convenient laundry room available to us. When I arrived in the laundry room with my detergent tablets, dryer sheets and pocket full of quarters, I was just DELIGHTED to find that the machines had no quarter slots. I was amazed that the laundry facilities were complimentary, and I think this is a fantastic feature!
The room itself was split up into very useful spaces. We had plenty of room to move about and get some “personal space” in the living room with sleeper sofa (and a good sized eating area), bedroom with a king-sized bed and full bathroom. The bathroom was actually two rooms, with the tub/shower and toilet in one enclosed room, and the double sinks in the adjoining area. This made getting ready much easier without having to stand on top of each other as we brushed our teeth and hair.
We found much to do on the property, and during our three day, two night visit, we hardly left the premises. We could always find something wonderful to eat between their fabulous breakfast buffet each morning, casual lunch dining poolside at the Blue Water Cafe, and elegant fine dining in The Grille at Shadow Rock. We experienced all of these options during our stay, and each had it’s own unique and fabulous qualities. The Grille at Shadow Rock is fine dining at its best with great food, super service, and wonderful ambiance. Life doesn’t get much better than great food poolside while watching the kids play in the water. Blue Water Cafe had incredible service, friendly people, yummy food, and excellent convenience.
The girls found plenty of wet fun at the Hilton Sedona. They have two separate swimming areas, but their favorite was the one by the Blue Water Cafe. The upper pool cascades down a waterfall into the lower pool, which has a mushroom waterfall in the shallows, which slope from the edge like a beach. There is also a hot tub nearby, which was just a dream to get in one cool Arizona evening. The zero-grade entry feature is just fantastic for toddlers, as they can play and splash in just inches of water without the parents worrying they will fall from the steps. They have plenty of room to move about and frolic and it’s a very secure environment.
We met many other happy travelers during our stay, from high school girls visiting Sedona with their mother, to a nursing student studying poolside, as well as other traveling families. It was a real mix of business and pleasure, and everyone expressed happiness with their accommodation selection.
The Hilton Sedona Resort and Spa was even terrific for our business needs. There a useful work desk in the bedroom and the dining table also acted as a great work area. The front desk staff were also helpful in our business needs, receiving a fax transmission for us and letting us know when it had arrived. They also received a package for us, and held it until our arrival.
All of these great aspects has earned the Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa a place on our Travel Reviews Best of the Best page.
I cannot think of a better hotel in which to spend some time in the Sedona area. We had a terrific stay, and would like to visit again in the future. Sedona is an amazing place, and the Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa is a terrific place to call home when you’re there. We highly recommend it. As I said, it’s surely the best resort we visited in all of Arizona.
