Ba Na hills is located in Truong Son mountain range in Hoa Vang district, 25 kilometers from the Southwest of Da Nang city, Central of Vietnam. It is well-know as “the Dalat of Danang province”. As you climb the winding road to beautiful Ba Na, you can feel four separate seasons within a day: Spring in the morning, Summer in the noon, Autumn in the afternoon and Winter in the evening. When temperatures near the coast reach 32°C, Ba Na is about 17°C to 20°C. Different from Da Lat, it isn’t humid because of the light rains. Especially when the rains appear, you see the falling rain around the slopes though it is always dry, still cloudy sky, clear cool air system on the top. In comparison with Tam Dao or Da Lat, Ba Na has the advantage of panoramic view. From the top of the mountain, you can see the whole of an extensive area including the sea, Son Tra peninsula, Thu Bon river, Hoi An, Da Nang city and the boundless fields.
The tourist center of Ba Na is situated on the top of Chua mountain, 1489 meters above the sea level. Ba Na has the great ecological and tourist values. It is a Nature reserve with more than 544 species of plants, 256 species of animals. Among those there are 6 species of plants and 44 species of rare animals listed in Vietnam’s Red Data Book follow the international standards.
Another attraction is Linh Ung pagoda. The Pagoda was built under the reign of Minh Mang King on the cliff of Son Thuy Mountain facing the sea. Linh Ung pagoda has some features like Tam Thai pagoda in the Marble Mountains( Ngu Hanh Son). On the right of pagoda is Vong Hai Dai which offers a clear view of Danang Beach. This is an ancient pagoda with high historical value. Visiting here, you can see one of the largest sitting Buddha statue in Asia stations (1,291.81m), which is 27 meters high.
Especially, Ba Na has a unique telpher system which was named in Guinness World Records as the world’s longest one-wire telpher network (5,042.62m) and the telpher with the highest gap between the lowest and the highest
As sitting in a cable car to Vong Nguyet hill, you can see the flowing Mo stream below. Mo stream is very crowded tourist spots, especially in the summer because it has an nine levels waterfall called Fairy’s Hair Fall ( Thac Toc Tien).
With such unique values, Ba Na became a resort town of the French soliders in the early of 20th century. They built hundred of villas, resorts and palaces but most of them were destroyed by the wars and natural calamities. Nowadays, many villas, resorts has rebuilt with all modern conveniences to offer the tourists.
